Client: Family Office - Private Wealth Management
Role: Senior Fund Accountant (Consultant)
Pay Rate: $50/hr - $55/hr
Location: Midtown, Manhattan (Hybrid - 2-3 days a week onsite)
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage full-cycle accounting for private investment funds, SPVs, co-investment vehicles, and family office legal entities.
- Calculate and reconcile Net Asset Value (NAV) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, Capital Statements) in compliance with US GAAP.
- Maintain shadow accounting records to reconcile internal records with external fund administrators, custodians, and prime brokers.
- Oversee capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, performance allocations (carried interest/waterfalls), and investor capital accounts.
Family Office & Wealth Management Operations
- Monitor cash flow, treasury operations, and liquidity management across family investment entities and operating accounts.
- Track capital commitments, funded/unfunded capital, and distributions for underlying private equity, venture capital, and real estate fund investments.
- Prepare customized performance and allocation reporting for family members, investment committees, and senior leadership.
- Coordinate with tax advisors for year-end tax planning, K-1 preparation, tax allocations, and regulatory filings.
Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during annual audits; prepare audit schedules and financial notes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and fund governing documents (LPA, PPM).
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, system implementations, and workflow automation for the accounting function.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred).
- Experience: 2–4 years of fund accounting or private wealth management accounting experience.
- Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) auditing private funds or family offices is highly desired.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, partnership accounting, private equity/hedge fund accounting principles, and waterfall/carried interest mechanics.
- Experience with multi-entity structures, trust accounting, and family office financial operations.
- Proficiency in fund accounting and ERP platforms (e.g., Investran, Addepar, eFront, QuickBooks, SEI, NetSuite) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion when handling high-net-worth family sensitive data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate financial results to non-accounting stakeholders.
