Junior Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift)– Baggage Handling SystemsLocation: El Paso International Airport Compensation: $17.00 per hour Schedule: 10-hour shifts | Overtime available | Operations 7 days per weekPosition SummaryThe Junior Maintenance Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of airport baggage handling systems. This role assists senior technicians with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, clears system jams, performs basic mechanical and electrical tasks, and ensures baggage systems operate safely and efficiently in a 24/7 airport environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance of baggage handling systemsManually move baggage and baggage tubs throughout assigned work areasIdentify and clear baggage jams to restore system operationPerform basic mechanical and electrical adjustments under supervisionAssist senior technicians with troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issuesConduct shift inspections and assist with system checks to ensure safe operationPerform housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks including sweeping, cleaning, and greasing equipmentRead and follow repair manuals, basic schematics, and supervisor or manager instructionsWork in confined spaces, elevated areas, and around moving equipment using required PPE and fall protectionComplete all required safety training and comply with company, airport, and federal safety policiesAccurately complete work orders, inspection logs, and other documentation according to established proceduresTake direction from senior technicians and supervisors and actively participate in training and mentoring opportunitiesPerform additional duties or assignments as required by managementQualificationsMinimum 2 years of mechanical experience or ability to pass a mechanical aptitude testHigh School Diploma or GED preferredAbility to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishBasic computer skills, including logging in to systems, accessing email, and completing online trainingValid driver's licenseAbility to obtain and maintain an Airport Security BadgeAbility to pass a 10-year background check and drug screeningMust comply with company drug and alcohol policiesWillingness and ability to work weekends, holidays, and non-traditional schedulesDemonstrated commitment to workplace safetyPhysical and Work Environment RequirementsAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull baggage and equipmentAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periodsWork is performed beneath airport terminals and within baggage handling areasExposure to dust, dirt, and continuous noise below OSHA action levelsVision (near and distance) and hearing requiredShifts are 10 hours (with ample overtime available)Wednesday – Saturday1:00 PM – 11:30 PMCompany-Provided EquipmentAirport security badgeParking passUniformsPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)Employee Requirement: Steel-toe safety shoesEqual Opportunity Employer StatementQuality Support Services (QSS) is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
